BOSSIER CITY, La. (KTBS) -  Cadets from the Camp Minden Youth Challenge Program spent Monday putting out 3,000 American flags on the lawn of the Bossier City Municipal  Complex.

 

 

Local VFW Post 5691 provides the flags every year to honor the victims of the September 11th terror attacks.                                             

Bossier City's annual memorial ceremony in remembrance of those victims will take place Thursday, September 11, 2014 at 10 a.m. at the Liberty Garden located at the Bossier City Municipal Complex, 620 Benton Road.

The public is invited to attend.

 

The event will feature welcoming remarks from Bossier City Mayor Lorenz Walker and Bossier Parish Sheriff Julian Whittington along with a keynote address from Col. Kristin Goodwin, 2nd Bomb Wing Commander at Barksdale Air Force Base.

The program will be emceed by Sonja Bailes, Public Relations Liaison for the Bossier Parish School Board.

Those in attendance will also hear from Central Park Elementary School student Lylah Paige Powers as she recites her winning composition from the school's fourth grade essay contest entitled “What is a Hero.

The Bossier City 9/11 memorial ceremony is sponsored each year by Keep Bossier Beautiful and the City of Bossier City.
